Label arithmetic, not a feeding prescription

Food portion converter

Use a daily calorie target and meal schedule agreed with your veterinarian. This tool cannot decide how much your puppy needs, choose a food or assess growth.

Only use the allocation agreed in your feeding plan. Blank means zero.
Do not use a number from a different recipe or regional product.

Works without JavaScript. Inputs are processed for this response, not saved in a feeding record or added to the URL.

Find the right numbers

Read the package you actually use: exact product, life stage, region and calorie statement. Enter kcal/kg, not calories per bag or per cup, in the kcal/kg field. Use the separate optional field for kcal/cup.

Example, not a target for your dog

With an invented target of 800 kcal/day, an agreed allocation of 80 kcal to other foods and a label of 3,934 kcal/kg, the calculation is (800 − 80) ÷ 3.934 = 183.0 g/day. Split into three equal meals, that is 61.0 g each. The example does not recommend this target, treat allowance, food or schedule.

When this is the wrong tool

If you do not have an agreed calorie target, or your puppy is unwell or growth concerns you, ask your veterinary team. Do not infer a ration from the size predictor or use this single-food calculation to design a mixed or homemade diet.

WSAVA's food-selection guidance explains nutritional adequacy and calorie information. The manufacturer label used for the arithmetic example is product-specific; check your current bag.
